What is a sun dog?

A sun dog is an atmospheric phenomenon where ice crystals form two rainbows around the sun on exceptionally cold days in winter. I chose this name as a tribute to my home in Western Montana, a nod to my being LGBT, and my adventurous life. I’ve found myself working and playing outside for most of the last 15 years, even in the snowy depths of winter. From ski patrol to wildlife biology, to living out of my truck promoting outdoor education across North America, these adventures have inspired much of my art.

Unfortunately, Covid has grounded my travels for the moment, but has allowed me to rekindle my love for visual art. I love illustrating and painting wildlife, photographing wild landscapes, and creating whimsical creatures. Graphic design is a newer medium for me, and I am having so much fun making stickers and designs celebrating life on the road!

I hope to return to in-person art shows soon in Missoula and around the Pacific Northwest, but in the meantime please enjoy my virtual shops.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
